The target pests in rice are brown planthopper, white-backed planthopper, and green leafhopper. Planthoppers feed at the base of the plant near the water line. For best results, direct the spray toward the lower part of the plant.
The application rate is 15 to 25 grams of 70% WDG per hectare. Dilute in 200 to 300 liters of water per hectare. Apply when planthopper populations reach 10 to 15 insects per hill. A second application may be made 15 to 20 days later if populations rebound. Do not apply more than twice per rice season.
For knapsack sprayers, mix 5 to 8 grams per 100 liters of water. Each knapsack typically covers 500 to 1000 square meters depending on walking speed and nozzle size.
Leafy vegetables include cabbage, Chinese cabbage, bok choy, lettuce, spinach, and kale. The target pests are aphids, whiteflies, and diamondback moth larvae, though imidacloprid is not a strong product for diamondback moth.
The application rate for leafy vegetables is 5 to 10 grams of 70% WDG per 100 liters of water. Apply when pests first appear. Cover the upper and lower surfaces of the leaves. The pre-harvest interval is 14 days for most leafy vegetables. Do not apply within 14 days of harvest.
For large fields, the per hectare rate is 15 to 25 grams in 200 to 300 liters of water. Use the higher rate for heavy infestations or for whiteflies, which are more tolerant than aphids.
The target pests are aphids, whiteflies, and thrips. Thrips are only partially controlled. For heavy thrips pressure, add a product specifically labeled for thrips.
The application rate is 10 to 15 grams per 100 liters of water. Apply when pests are first detected on lower leaves. Repeat every 14 to 21 days if pressure continues. The pre-harvest interval is seven days for greenhouse tomatoes and 10 days for field tomatoes. Do not apply more than three times per crop cycle.
For whitefly control, focus on the lower leaf surfaces where whitefly nymphs and pupae are found. Good coverage is essential. Use a spray volume of at least 400 liters per hectare for field tomatoes and 800 liters per hectare for greenhouse tomatoes.
